want a new hobby?
Wednesday, September 27th, 2006hobby? let's make a classic approach on this..first, what the hell is a hobby? well, what else could an IT guy sitting on his butt would possibly do, but to open up a web browser and type google.com then type the word hobby on the search box…then, boom!there you have it, meanings and things that would say what is a hobby. This one is taken from wikipedia, "A hobby is a spare-time recreational pursuit." this is the link -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobby
from the word it self, it is a recreational way of doing something that would keep you away from the usual stuff people do. Now, here comes the exciting part, (well i guess, for me) have you heard of Airsoft wargames! For people who want to experience action and heart-pumping situations, this is the hobby for you! A little background of Airsoft, it is a game wherein people or teams participate to mimic or simulate what happens in a military operation or in the battlefield. Well of course, with some gadgets! Ten!tenenen!tenen!(a bit of a sound effect) These gadgets includes, a rifle that fires 6mm plastic pellets (we call it bb, short for BALANG BILOG), battery powered and made of hard platic or full metal, most likely like the real steel weapon used by modern military. Rifles and guns come in different styles and shapes, patterned from their real steel counter-part. M4's, M16's, AK's,and H&K's are assault rifles players/airsofter play with. Other gears include, face and eye protectors, vest and BDU(Battle Dress Uniforms).
How the game is played? What are the rules? The game is played in different scenarios immitating military operations and tactics, close quarter battles, world war 2 recreation, vietnam war and so on. Teams must compete depending on what scenario, what objectives to accomplish and how to be effective in the battlefield. Unlike paint ball where a big splat of colored ball could be seen when you're hit, The general rule in an airsoft game is to shout "HIT" or raise your gun when you've been hit, honesty of a player would then come in handy. Some would say this is a violent game, where people hurt one another, but I say, hell this is the closest thing of experiencing the front line action! For a guy like me who's been a military fanatic since high school, a son of Military Personnel, and a frustrated "PMAer", this hobby rocks! For those of you who want to experience action more than anything else, I suggest you try Airsoft Wargames! Visit filairsoft.com forum if your interested. Who knows, we might be firing at each other one of these days!
